That's Central Elementary in the background. They closed it this year..no more in use it's just sitting there. The group in front (also just sitting there) is Miss Hornbeak's first grade class of 1945-46. They are from the left back Jerry Weaver, Gene Smith Harrison, Hugh Wade, Gene Virgin Miss H., Larry Edmundson, Dale Locke, J. Gordon Clayton, Larry Primrose. Row 2: Lynn Swindle, Jerry Wayne King, Rex Bushong, Ronnie Masoud, Bobby Hubbs, Larry Joe Carmical, Mickey Quinton, Bobby Kent Nipp. Front Carolyn Cultra, Margaret Colville,Phyllis Cole, Lavonne Gardner, Bobbie Goodman, Betty Burns, Mamie Jimerson, (outside frame but visible in another view) Helen Gray. I didn't make out to well with the girls-a trait I had aquired by the first grade. Margaret Colville Payne provided all the names and the new/old pictures below.

We played this game at Turner Field to help raise money for the new football field near the high school.
From this group those now deceased include Bob Arnn, Forest Gray,Joe Owens, Donald Bishop, Jimmy Daniels, and Jimmy Zimmerman.
The Strata Club burned and the school stopped sponsoring these off campus in about 1961.
The Sailorettes had a part in the 1954 Centennial program.
